Homak Gun Safe Reviews

Homak gun safes have been around for quite a while. And as anyone knows, when you've been around as long as they have, well, it's no accident! Homak makes all types of locking products such as tool boxes, but it's their gun safes that they're probably best known for.

There are a lot of Homak gun safe reviews out there, but this one will be different. I've had the opportunity to look over several of the models in their product line and here are the details of the models that I like best. Your needs may be different, so don't have a cow if I don't choose the Homak gun safe that's your favorite!

While Homak has many models in their gun safe line, I'm only going to focus on a few. It seems everyone wants to have the very best safe in their home, but few are ready to pay the asking price of a top of the line home safe like a Fort Knox or Heritage.

While some Homak gun safe reviews will try to cover every model made by Homak, I don't have the time to do all the models justice in this review, so I'll only focus on the ones that many people find affordable for their budgets.

Homak offers a great compromise in their line of home safes. They have everything from a in-wall safe like you'd find in many Hotels all the way up to a stand alone 36 gun Monster.

You may not need a safe as large as the Homak HS50133360 36-Gun Electronic Key Pad Lock Fire Resistant Steel Safe model either. Luckily there are plenty of models in between.

Before you can decide on which safe to buy, you need to first determine what you'll be putting in it. I have an older 14 gun safe that I was sure was going to be all I needed. I was wrong. Things happen. I quickly outgrew my 14 gun safe and now I'm looking to buy an even bigger one.

The simple truth is, you'll be amazed at what you'll be putting in a safe once you own one. I know I was. So take some time to think about what you'll be putting in it.

Do You Really Need A Fire Resistant Safe?

Let's get one thing correct from the get go. I know of no "fire proof" safe that is meant for residential homes. None. They are all "fire resistant". So don't go asking people if they carry a "fire proof" home safe because as far as I know, no one makes one.

If you plan on storing things like important papers in your gun safe, or other things that will be sorely missed if they were to burn up, then yes, you need a fire resistant home safe.

But be aware, There are different levels of "fire resistance". Some may only mean that they are resistant for 30 minutes up to 1200 degrees. Others may be resistant for a longer amount of time at higher temperatures.

Also, just because it says it's fire resistant doesn't mean you won't open it after a house fire and find that your important papers are a pile of ashes. Most safes will try and keep the internal temperatures down under 300 degrees for their rated time of resistant. But that doesn't mean that your stuff will be safe it the fire is hotter. Just something you'll want to keep in mind if you're out to buy a fire resistant Homak gun safe.

One of my favorite gun safes is the Homak WS00017001 High Security steel wall safe. While this safe won't hold a lot of larger things like rifles, it is perfect to keep things that you need to access quickly without having to open a larger safe. I like keeping my wallet in it as well as my car keys and an auto pistol for quick access. The Homak steel wall safe keeps these things safe from not only burglars, but from my kids as well but they allow me quick access in case I need any of them.

If you have small kids, then one of these wall safes hidden behind a picture or located in your closet would be a great addition to your home. If you don't like the steel wall safe, then have a look at their Electronic Pistol boxes or their biometric safes. Like I said earlier, they have a safe to fit nearly every need.

I hope I've been able to help you choose a Homak gun safe. I can tell you that I never hear anyone say "I wish I had bought a smaller safe" or "I wish I had bought a cheap gun safe". Everyone I meet, myself included, wishes they had bought a bigger gun safe and a fire resistant gun safe.
