Deer Hunting Games Everyone Loves

Deer hunting games have been around ever since the first gaming platform hit the market. One of the first, and still one of the funnest deer hunting games was one called "Deer Hunter". I don't know, but that game is Old School and I still play it a lot. I think there must be a lot of others who like to play deer hunting games as well.

Nowadays you have deer hunting games from a lot of sources, including Cabela's and Bass Pro. Each of their games can be played on most gaming consoles. My favorite of the two is Cabela's deer hunting game. I just haven't had that much time to play Bass Pro Shops version.

I think that you'll find most outdoor outfitters have at least one version of a deer hunting game. Some have even went as far as offering free deer hunting games online, although these vary greatly in quality and playing time.

Deer Hunting Games Reviewed

Since I've played a lot of these games (I buy a lot of used deer hunting games), I thought I would tell you a few of my all time favorite. So, in no uncertain order, here are my favorite deer hunting games.

Deer Hunter 5

No deer hunting game reviews would be complete without taking a look at this game. Deer Hunter was the first hunting game I played and the new version, Deer Hunter 5 is by far the best! It has the traditional deer hunts, but it also has something others don't. It has a deer hunting bot that moves through the woods and spooks the same animals you're hunting. It also hunts them. Another feature of Deer Hunter 5 is that you can also hunt Grizzly's, Black Bears and other game animals. And to make it more interesting, some of these animals can turn on your making you into the hunted! They've improved the graphics on this game and the 3D is amazing. One of the best graphics packages out there in my opinion.

Deer Drive

This is a very good 3D game on my Wii. One of the things that makes this game so much fun to play is that you don't have to sit there and wait for minutes on end to see something to shoot. The action on this game is pretty intense. I highly recommend it. Not only does it have Deer hunts, there are Moose and other Big Game you can go for! The game is set in an arcade type shooting, which I like quite well.

Cabela's Big Game Hunter

While this isn't a deer hunting only game, it does offer some darn good fun and excitement. In fact, I actually prefer this one over a lot of other deer hunting only games. The Wii version has a 4 player multi person and this rocks if you have buddies who like to play deer hunting games as well. You'll be able to hunt Elk, Moose, Mule Deer as well as dangerous game like Grizzly's and African Game. It can get pretty intense at times, especially when playing against someone else!

ESPN Deer Hunting

This one is a deer hunting game I'm not real crazy about. Once you've played it, it just felt like it was a copy cat game with nothing as original as the first two. I don't know, maybe it's because ESPN pretty much scrapped their outdoor offerings on TV and are going back to a event based programming. For me, this game is kinda stale and there are funner games out there than this one.

Bass Pro Shop's "The Hunt"

Again, not a deer specific game, but once you start playing it, you won't mind a bit! I have to admit, I didn't think much of this deer hunting game when I first purchased it. But after playing for about 5 minutes, I fell in love with it. The feature I like the most about it is the optional motion sensitive controller on the Pro level. It ROCKS! It also has three playing modes; quick hunt, season hunt and five arcade mini games. There are ten hunt locations across North America so you'll get your fill of hunting your favorite Big Game animal!

Mathews Bowhunting Video Game

Whether you like Mathews Bows or not, I'm willing to be that you'll love their video game! There are 3 modes; target practice, arcade and classic hunt. The cool feature on this video game is that you can customize your own Mathews bow. Not only that, but besides hunting the traditional Big Game animals like the other video games, with Mathews Bowhunting, you can take rabbits, squirrels and other small game! It makes this game really interesting as well as challenging. When you start stalking that trophy Cottontail Rabbit, you'll forget you're not playing a traditional deer hunting video game!

These are the deer hunting games I play the most. As I said above, I just about leave the ESPN game alone, it's just not fun anymore. But the others, well, most of my spare time is spent playing them!
