63Chef Basket - As Seen On TV
The Chef Basket - Does It Really Work?
I remember when I first saw the Chef Basket on TV. It was one of those darn "Gosh, why didn't I think of that?" I mean, this thing is so simple and easy to use. Once you've used it a couple times, you'll be wondering why you or someone else hadn't thought of this idea before! In fact, I keep thinking this every time I use it. It's that easy to use and so "common sense" that I just couldn't believe that I hadn't thought of it.
I was also a little skeptical at first. I think most people are when the see something advertised on TV and they can't touch it. But the concept was so darn easy to understand...there I go again...why didn't I think of this before! Anyway, I ended up ordering the Chef Basket and also decided to get the free one and pay the extra shipping (you can see the Chef Basket by visiting the Official Website here). Simply because I know that many times I have more than one pot of something cooking on the stove.
Below is a Chef Basket Review that was done by a news reporter from a NBC station in South Bend Indiana.
The Chef Basket Review - First Use
When my order arrived, I immediately washed the Chef baskets and dried them. I handled each basket, making sure that it operated the way it was suppose to. I then, once again marveled at what a simple invention this was and quietly wondered to myself what must be wrong with me that I couldn't have thought of this myself. When I think of all the struggles that I've went through over the years cooking pasta, steaming veggies, deep frying food and boiling seafood, I just want to bang my head on the wall!
The first evening, I took some broccoli out of the fridge and tried steaming them using the Chef Basket. They turned out great and using the basket was a breeze. It fit my pot like a glove. When the broccoli was done, removing the food was quick and easy and I didn't have to worry about getting splashed by boiling water!
Further Test of the Chef Basket
I didn't have a chance to use the Chef Basket again until about a week or a little more later. We were going to have a few friends over and I wanted to make some Hot Wings that we could snack on while we visited. The Chef Basket made it a cinch to deep fry the wings. I like deep frying my wings until the skin is just a tad bit crispy. I found this was no problem using the basket. In the past, I've had hit or miss using a perforated deep fry pan, you know the kind that comes with those big propane cookers. Plus cleanup was quick and simple! I really loved that!
A few days later, I had the chance to use the basket when I was cooking some Pasta. I was boiling the small elbow macaroni. This is where I ran into a problem. Some of the small pasta can fall through the openings of the basket, in which case you'll have to use a strainer anyway. No big deal for me, but it might be for other folks. Just make sure if you cook small pasta, to watch it when you move it and make sure none falls out. I think it's obvious that you couldn't cook spaghetti in this either, but I'm sure somewhere, someone has tried! LOL
The following week, I had the chance to use the Chef Basket for boiling some shrimp and clams. I wondered how it would hold up to the heavy load, but I needn't had worried. The loaded basket easily lifted out of the pot and I was able to use the basket to move them over to the sink for a cold water rinse.
I'm finding that the more I use the Chef Basket, the more I'm loving it!
What Others Have Said About The Chef Basket
My neighbor and I was talking one day. We got on the subject of cooking and I told her that I'd bought one of those "As seen on TV" Chef Baskets. She wanted to know how I liked it and after I told her it was really useful, she wanted to know if she could borrow my extra one to try out. I said "Sure" and took it over.
A few days later she called and asked how she could order her own! I gave her the website where I ordered the Chef Baskets and now she owns a set.
I looked over the Internet to see what other users were saying. Here's a few exerts that I found...
"...worked better than I imagined"
"...it made steaming and blanching a breeze"
"...no more burns from boiling water or hot grease!"
"...makes preparing meals quick and easy. I just take the food from the pot to the table"
"...I love how easy they are to clean and store. Fold flat for easy storing"
These pretty much mirror my own reactions after using the Chef Basket. In fact, I only found one person who was somewhat dissatisfied and they didn't like that they had to pay the shipping on the extra Chef Basket. But nearly anything I get off of TV or the Internet I have to pay shipping, so it wasn't a big deal to me.
If you cook a lot like me, I really can't see how anyone wouldn't love a Chef Basket. I can say that it's the best cooking baskets I've ever used. It's certainly made my cooking quicker and easier and if you're like me, I'm sure it can do the same for you.
