Apple iPad 2 Reviews

iPad 2
Well, it's about time! We all knew Apple would be coming out with the iPad 2 around this time of year, it's when they come out with their spring line up. Everyone was waiting with bated breath to see what the new iPad 2 would have in store for us. Well, although the Apple iPad 2 won't hit the U.S. stores until March 11, here's my preliminary iPad 2 review based on what others that have seen the iPad 2 are saying.
I can tell you now, from what I'm reading, this is nothing more than a catch up job by Apple. They came out with a sub par notebook (and let's face it, this is exactly what the pads are, just minus the keyboard) and now their competitors are blowing them away. Plus, those of us who bought the original iPad's just a few short months ago are wondering why they didn't have many of these features on the first ones?

iPad 2 Review
For starters, Steve Jobs himself gave the presentation and introduced the iPad 2 to the media. Since he's been out for a while, that alone was surprising. But the mere fact that Steve has blasted the Android operating system or devices that use it the last few times he's been on stage tells us volumes. Mainly, that the Android systems are cutting into Apple's share of sales and Steve doesn't like it.
A few of the major changes is that the iPad 2 comes in black OR white and Steve swears this time that White will be available on Day 1. Also, the iPad 2 has slimmed down a little, to just 1.3 pounds. Original iPad's weight in at 1.5 pounds
Apple iPad 2 New Features
More new features of the Apple iPad 2 are that it has 2 cameras. Something that many of us thought should have been added onto the original iPad. There's a front facing camera for live Video Streaming and Internet Chat and a rear facing camera for taking pictures and sending them via email.
Steve Jobs also says that the iPad 2 is thinner than the Original iPads. In fact, he says the iPad 2 is thinner than the iPhone 4. Something that will definitely need to be seen to be believed!
The price points of the Apple iPad 2 are the same as the original iPads. So if you were wise and saved your money, (unlike myself) you can get the Apple iPad 2 with the money you would have used to buy a regular iPad.
A Faster iPad 2
Google also says that the iPad 2 will be faster than the 1st iPad's due to a new A5 chip set. Once again, that makes us "old" ipad users feel great...just freakin' great Steve!
But probably my most favorite thing about this new iPad 2 is that the new system turns iPads with 3G
cellular connections into personal Wi-Fi hotspots, so you can share the
connection with computers or other devices — if your wireless carrier
allows it. Of course, some carriers charge a few for this service. Wouldn't want to miss the chance to make a few bucks off of us now would they?
Also it's capable of running iMovie and is capable of doing edits in Garage band, which should be interesting. But what we really want to know is what's in it for the gamer in all of us!!?? (hint, very little!)
Apple iPad 2 - Final Observations
Okay, so the new iPad 2 is pretty cool. But really, all of these features should have been included in the original iPad. And what's more, even with this new release, Apple is still playing catch up with several other tablet PC's. Too bad Steve can't see that. He thinks the iPad is in first place. The problem is that tablets like the Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab are so far ahead, that Steve can't see them.
I myself would still like to know why the iPad 2 didn't come with at least a XD Card reader? It would make it much easier to swap pictures and files. How hard would that had been to implement it into this version of the iPad? Maybe when sales dip far enough, we'll see improved features like other tablets already have. Can't wait for the iPad 3, 4 or 5 before we get modern ipads! Okay, so maybe this Apple iPad 2 review is a little harsh, but really folks, would it had been that hard to stop short changing consumers and just come out with a ass kickin' machine that no others can touch?
